Now or never Danish Foreign Minister hopes to create a historic solution Failure is not an option for Per Stig Møller The Danish EU Precidency faces a huge historical challenge. “The bloodiest century in Europe started in August 1914 and we can end it in December 2002, ”says the Danish Foreign Minister Per Stig Møller in an interview. In his point of view the biggest challlenge is to create a balance which is acceptable to everybody. For enlargement to be a success, the Union will have to overcome two distinct challenges:the need to ensure that populations in the candidate countries remain keen on EU membership, and finding a solution that will allow a new and bigger Union to function effectively in the future.
